StudyPortal is a revision tool for students. You upload your class notes and course materials; it turns them into something you can actually work with — answering questions, generating quizzes, producing summaries of individual topics, and keeping track of what you have and have not retained. It is free to start and does not require a school account.
“Most students spend a lot of time revising without knowing which topics they are actually retaining.”
Re-reading notes feels like revision. It is not, or at least not very efficient revision. The psychological literature on this has been fairly consistent since the 1980s: testing yourself on material — retrieval practice — produces better long-term retention than restudying it. The difficulty is that setting up self-testing takes effort, and most students are already stretched.
StudyPortal is built to handle that part. It reads your uploaded material, works out what the topics are, and produces tests and revision schedules from them. It also keeps a running record of which topics you are retaining and which you are not, so the time you spend revising goes to where it is actually needed.
Answer questions from your material
Ask questions about your uploaded notes or past papers in plain language. Answers are drawn from what you uploaded, not from a general internet source.
Generate quizzes by topic
Select a topic and StudyPortal produces a quiz from your material. The questions reflect your course, not a generic version of it.
Summarise any section
Ask for a summary of any topic and receive one drawn from your uploaded documents. Useful for a quick check before an exam or before starting a revision session on a topic.
Track mastery by topic
After each session, mastery scores are updated per topic based on how many questions you attempted and how many you answered correctly. The scores are visible at a glance.
Build a study plan
Set how many weeks you have before your exam and which topics to cover. StudyPortal produces a revision schedule weighted toward the topics with the lowest mastery scores.
Spaced repetition scheduling
Topics are reviewed on a schedule that shortens for poorly retained material and lengthens for well-retained material. The intervals update automatically after each session.
A general-purpose AI chatbot knows a lot about most subjects, but it does not know your teacher’s preferred interpretation of a topic, which past paper questions your school uses, or how your notes describe a concept. StudyPortal works from what you upload. Everything it produces — answers, quizzes, summaries — is drawn from your own material.
